Isra and Miraj Event

Posted on: 29 April 2017

The Israa and Miraj refer to, two parts of a miraculous journey that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) took in one night from Makka to Jerusalem and then an ascension to the heavens. Israa is an Arabic word referring to Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) miraculous night journey from Makka to Jerusalem - specifically, to the site of al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem - as referred to in Surah Al-Israa in the Quran. It is believed to have been followed by the Mi'raj, his ascension to heaven. According to some of the Hadith scholars this journey is believed to have taken place just over a year before Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) migrated to from Makka to Madina, on the 27th of Rajab. Muslims celebrate this night by offering optional prayers during this night and fast during the day.

We At Annandale Mosque commemerated the night by holding a gathering. Shaykh Hassan spoke of the importance of this night and outlined the secrets behind this journey. Shaykh Amin Buxton spoke of the hardship that the Prophet (peace be upon him) faced before Allah took his beloved on this beautiful journey. Our guest speaker, Shaykh Abdul Aziz Ahmed (Glasgow) went through the chapter of Isra in the Burdah. HE beautifully explained the verses of teh Burda and enlightened our hearts. The congregation finished by reciting parts of the Burdah.
