Faith, Global Politics Peace in the Age of President Trump

Annandale Mosque was delighted to host the ‘Faith, Global Politics & Peace in the Age of President Trump’ event. This was co-organised with ‘United for Peace’ and ‘Edinburgh Interfaith Association’. Our Guest speakers where:

Shaykh Amin Buxton who is a graduate from the prestigious Darul Mustafa seminary in Yemen and completed a B.A in Arabic from SOAS in London. In his various capacities, he a teacher and an educator.

Professor Jolyon Mitchell who is a lecturer at Edinburgh University. He specialises in Religion, Violence and Peacebuilding, with particular reference to the arts.

 

Shaykh Amin spoke about the need of change within us and to break down the wall of our ego. Only when we reform ourselves, can we reform the community as a whole.

Professor Mitchel gave an excellent presentation about building walls and how they divide people. He briefly explored the history of building such walls over the world including the wall built in Ireland, Palestine, Morocco, Germany and other countries. He mentioned people have the power and will to take the walls down, in particular reference to the Berlin wall.
